Principle of Instruction: The principle of instruction for this lesson is to introduce the students to the topic of addition with regrouping by using different technologies.
Problem-Centered: The students will be shown different applications they can use at home so they can continue to apply the methods they will be taught throughout this unit.
Activation: The Voki video will activate the student's prior knowledge. The teacher will provide a riddle that the student's can use as they go through the lesson. They can always look back at the video if they find themselves having any difficulty.
Demonstration: The lesson will begin by using the Voki video (they will watch as a whole class). Vocabulary is a very important element when teaching any lesson. The teacher will then hand out a word search that will provide the students with necessary vocabulary for this unit of study.
Application: The students will be shown a website where they can practice their regrouping skills throughout the lesson. The teacher will provide a screencast of the website so the student can look back to it if there is any confusion on how to use the technology.
